Top 10 Spots In India To Go Drinking With Friends

While alcohol may not be the beverage of choice for most locals, India is home to a variety of great watering holes that range from typical bars to out of this world experiences that you’ll never forget. Unlike going out in most first world countries, India, for the most part, is dirt cheap and you can have more than one great night out without breaking the bank.

Once you’ve booked cheap flights from Pune to Delhi or another Indian city, and picked up your bags, be sure to check out the great cuisine, landmarks, people and culture that make India great, as going simply for a few drinks is no way to travel. That said, check out this list of ten great pubs and bars in India and remember to save one on your GPS for a night when all your friends are available.

21 Fahrenheit

Situated in the middle of the sweltering megacity that is Mumbai, a bar with ice for furniture is the last thing you’d expect to see. Enjoy your beer as cold as it gets thanks to the ice glasses, which you’ll put on the ice table in front of your ice chair. And to top it all off, everything is beautifully accentuated with neon lighting.

Cloud 9

Known as the jewel of Shillong’s clubbing scene, Cloud 9 provides a premium and contemporary solution to your night, coupled with great indie music and unique cocktails.

NASA Pub

Being in the clouds is cool, but why not take it further and be with the stars? Bangalore’s NASA Pub is clad with LED lighting and a futuristic interior, along with authentic window holes with images of earth that make it seem as if you’re really in space.

Blue Frog Lounge

Another great spot to check out in Mumbai is the Blue Frog Lounge which, as the name would suggest, has a really funky seating set up with mood lighting and live Indian music every weekend.

Aer

34 floors up in Mumbai’s Four Seasons Hotel is Aer, an extravagant sky-high experience that, if not for the panoramic view of the city below, would make you feel as if you’re in the Middle East.

Black Sheep Bistro

For something that feels a little more like home, Goa’s Black Sheep Bistro features hip decor and a great variety of contemporary food and drinks. The interior is designed to look like something out of a modern American film, which may help certain tourists with their homesickness.

Skyye

Moving to Bangalore is this amazing 16th-floor bar that’s as glamorous as it gets. With a futuristic color-changing floor, panoramic views of the surrounding cityscape and a unique selection of cocktails, Skyye provides a luxurious experience like no other.

1658 Exchange

For something a little more unique, head over to Kolkata’s 1658 Exchange and enjoy great drinks while practicing your stock-broker skills. It’s definitely something a little different, but great fun once you get the hang of it.

Cheers Crossroads

Residents of Guwahati love this bar for its great live music, tasteful drink selection and overall great vibe. Be sure to check it out if you’re in the city.

Honorable mentions go to Toto’s Garage in Mumbai and The Flying Elephant in Chennai.
