Well I guess it’s not like the police are actually going to come storming into your house and lead you all away in handcuffs if they receive some “intelligence” on the fact that you’re running an “illegal gambling operation” out of your home, but technically if you get together with a group of friends and you play something like Poker for real money, you’re running an illegal gambling operation. I know, I know, I mean you could probably get a policeman to join in on the fun — such is the ridiculousness of that particular law.
It’s basically just one of those technicalities of the law though because the law is actually designed to protect consumers from what can be the very shady and unfair dealings of casino operators, so if for instance, you were running an illegal underground gambling operation, you wouldn’t be governed my the regulations which protect the participants.
So anyway, if you still want to comply with the law, which is something I always encourage (haha) and you want to host the ultimate in casino nights at your place, you can really bring the circus to town on this one! Maybe you want to host a casino-themed bachelor party for your friends. This can be ideal if you are looking for bachelor party ideas on a budget as you would have to entertain a few people that are close to you.
As for me, when I’m not on the road and I have a few buddies over, this is exactly what we get up to.
Setting up the venue
I have a neat little round table which upon closer inspection may look suspiciously like a poker table, but really it’s a LAN table. Well actually it’s a makeshift LAN table in the form of a poker table that’s been modified by a carpenter buddy of mine, so it’s one-of-a-kind (I think), but I’m pretty sure something like that has to exist as a commercially manufactured, mass-produced product. My bud did a professional job of it, but yeah, that’s the place of gathering where all the casino nights fun goes down.
I have a spare desktop for anyone who might have forgotten to bring their laptop, but yeah, everyone brings their laptop and we connect to a few favourite casino platforms to play online.
The games
As far as the games go, online casino platforms these days are so feature rich that it reminds me of LAN-point gaming as I enjoyed it growing up in my teenage years. The likes of Fantasy & Adventure Slots resemble something akin to those games you’d get on the original PlayStation, except with these you actually play with real money (if not on the demo mode) and stand a chance to win some real money as well. In some instances you can win really big!
Our “strategy” is to pool money together and buy some food, drinks and snacks, then we divide what’s left over and deposit it on the way back from buying the supplies so that we can fund each of our online gaming accounts.
From there it’s all fun and games and ever since we started playing online casino games in this way we’ve never really had to dig into our pockets again to fund our accounts further. We’ve collectively won enough money to keep the fun going at least once a week, when all of us are around of course.
