6 Things You Should Never Mix With Alcohol

Alcohol is something that plenty of people openly enjoy in a variety of situations.  For some people it allows them to lower their inhibitions or relax at the end of a long day.

While drinking responsibly shouldn’t cause any problems, there are some situations that just shouldn’t mix with booze in any quantity.  Here are six things you should definitely combine with alcohol.

Driving

Hopefully, you’ve heard by now that driving under the influence isn’t recommended.  Driving after even only one glass of wine can be incredibly dangerous.

You should always arrange a designated driver or pay for a cab.  Even though it may add an extra $30 to your evening, it’s a lot cheaper than having to contest a DUI in court.

Medication

Most doctors will advise against mixing medications with alcohol.  Not only does it often cancel the effects of medication, but it can have serious side effects.

When paired with certain medications, alcohol can cause you to feel dizzy and drowsy.  You may have impaired motor control and even risk of overdose.

Even over the counter medications like Tylenol can cause serious liver damage and even ulcers.  You’re better off waiting until the alcohol has left your system to take any medications. If you’ve taken medication prior to drinking, then abstain from drinking altogether.

Social Media

After a few drinks, you may feel more emotionally vulnerable. You may be ready to take your lack of emotional filters online and let the world know exactly how you’re truly feeling.

You wouldn’t be the first to send a message to an ex or post a photo that you may regret later.  The best way to avoid getting yourself into trouble later is avoiding social media at all costs when drinking.

Extreme Heat

Drinking in extreme heat can lead to more than just awkward pit stains.  You could seriously dehydrate yourself and suffer from heat stroke.

Since drinking lowers your ability to logically gauge your circumstances, you may not realize just how hot you are.  Drink with extreme caution when you’re in a hot location and always alternate with glasses of water.

Work

Everyone loves a good office party around the holidays. But drinking too much wine can have serious consequences. IF you do attend an office party where alcohol is present, don’t drink more than a glass or two.

The last thing you want is to jeopardize your job over acting out of line.  Save the party for your favorite local bar. Work isn’t the place for getting drunk.

Pregnancy

Research shows that the effects of alcohol while pregnant are still inconclusive.  Therefore, it’s essential to steer clear of it altogether.

Alcohol can seriously harm your baby, so why take the risk?
