4 Mistakes You’re Making With Food

It’s easy to believe that you’re doing all the right things in your diet.  If you’ve never known any other way than you may not see anything wrong with the way you’re enjoying meals.

However, there may just be an entirely new world out there full of ways to enjoy food that you didn’t even know about.  In order to learn about the best way to enjoy food, you should first start to identify all the things you’re doing the wrong way.  Here are some of the most common.

Pairing Your Meals With The Wrong Beverage

Many people fail to understand the importance of what kind of beverage you pair your food with.  Enjoying a wonderful salmon with a zest on top of lightly buttered rice will be absolutely ruined by washing it down with a root beer.

Your palette should be full of flavors which enhance the food that you’re eating rather than overpower it.

Many people enjoy a nice wine with certain meals, for example.  The harmonious notes of flavor and scents amplify the quality of their dish.  Just make sure you don’t drink too much. Getting drunk will certainly dull your palette and waste a good meal on a dizzy head.  Not to mention you certainly shouldn’t be driving home drunk from the restaurant.

Overcooking Your Meat

The French are notoriously repulsed by Americans who cook their meat to the point of “well-done.”  You may have dismissed it as “Oh The French” and continued ordering your $60 steaks cooked to the point of being black and rubbery, however, the French are right on this one.

Overcooking your meat takes away from the flavor and consistency of meat which is preserved when cooked rare to medium rare.  You won’t just enjoy the flavor more, but your stomach will thank you for filling it with something which wasn’t burned to a crisp and sits like a load in your intestines.

Not Eating Enough Raw Vegetables And Fruits

While there are plenty of positive results that come from eating cooked vegetables, there are even more perks from eating raw fruits and vegetables.

The vitamins and minerals are preserved and you are introducing much more enzymes into your body by eating them in this form.

Making a point of eating at least one raw item with every meal will make you feel much more energized and keep your digestion in top form.

Snacking

Americans are known for snacking and grazing throughout the day.  While this can be fun, it’s certainly not good for your waistline.

While a few extra snacks may seem innocent, you could be consuming as many as 1000 extra calories throughout the day just by eating these seemingly harmless bites.
