4 Essential Tips for Flying with a Baby

Flying with an infant or a baby below two years is one of parenting’s most daunting challenges, especially over the summer holidays. Not only do you need to navigate the stresses associated with air travel – flight delays, airport traffic, and the pandemic protocols – but also have to deal with their cargo.

However, flying with a baby doesn’t have to be stressful. Sure, it can be a nightmare, but it doesn’t have to be. If you plan, book your Royal Jordanian tickets on time, and arrive at the airport early with the proper mindset, you can manage it.

Here are the essential tips for flying with a baby.

Get to The Airport Early

Some parents argue against arriving early at the airport. The reason being, you’ll need more time to entertain your baby outside the comfort of your home. while this may seem convincing enough, don’t try it.

Remember, airport stress is dictated by your departure time. And giving yourself less time from your home to the airport will only create more stress. And yes, traveling with a baby takes more time than traveling alone.

Getting to the airport early gives you a chance to – order lunch and feed the baby.

Gate-Check Your Car-Seat and Stroller

The beauty of flying with children is that strollers and car seats fly free. Even better, you can walk the child down the jetway and check them in before boarding the plane.

Even better, a stroller is a no-brainer. For instance, why carry a child through the airport when you can push them?

You can look for baby strollers online for a brand like Nuna for mixx pram or similar companies that can provide good quality multifunctional strollers. If you are in doubt, you can also visit a local store and check out various options available.

Choose Your Airplane Seats

When flying with a baby, request the front low bulkhead seats when booking. With these seats, you can request the airline to give a bassinet for your child to use in-flight.

And yes, you can do this online. If not, contact the airline and make the request earliest possible. Remember, the service is on a first-come-first-served basis, and therefore the seats may be claimed by other parents way before the flight.

The bulkhead seats are positioned behind the cabin divider. With the fold-down bench, it’s much easier to attach the bassinet when the belt sign is off. It’s also important to check the airline’s policy on bassinets with age, height, and weight of the baby.

Preparing for Flying with a Child

After booking your ticket, the next thing you need is travel insurance. Next, focus on packing. And yes, if possible pack light.

Remember, packing less is a plus for you at security checks.

the less you carry around, the less you have to worry about at the security checks. But make sure you don’t cut on the essentials.

Documents: whenever you’re traveling, it’s important to carry your relevant documents. These include visas and passports for everyone including the child.

Baggage: pack carefully for your flight. Be sure to separate the essentials like diapers from other baggage. You can organize everything in sections so that it’s easier for you to find everything you need.

Conclusion

Traveling with children presents specific challenges to the parents. For this, you need to select an airline that makes it fun for kids and enjoyable for adults to travel in their planes.
